The Eastern Oklahoma VA Healthcare System (EOVAHCS) is seeking a general orthopedic surgeon to serve as our Nation Hero’s at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, OK. Our ideal candidate will enjoy a busy clinical practice and be board-certified or board-eligible in General Orthopedics.

At the Muskogee VA, our healthcare teams are deeply experienced and guided by the needs of Veterans, their families, and caregivers.

The staff physician may have teaching opportunities due to our association with the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OSUCOM) and the Oklahoma University of Oklahoma College of Medicine (OUCOM) program. Qualified applicants will have an MD or DO, a current medical license, and be board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopedic surgery.

The type of practice environment would be a face-to-face clinic to cover consultations, follow-up patient visits as well as post-operative patients, emergency room consultations, and the opportunity to train orthopedic residents. We currently have three part-time orthopedic surgeons, one full-time hand surgeon, and a part-time hand surgeon, as well as two physician assistants.

Work Schedule:  Full-time, Monday-Friday.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen -Non-citizens will be considered if unable to find a US citizen.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
  • Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery. Board Eligibility may also be considered. 

We are offering a sign-on bonus!

  • $300,000 to 400,000 compensation package based on training, experience, and local labor market
  • Annual performance bonus of up to an additional $15,000 K per year
  • Guaranteed salary increases
  • Licensure: 1 full & and unrestricted active U.S. license is required.
  • CME: $1,000/year
  • Malpractice: VHA physicians are covered under the Federal Tort Claims Act
  • No employment contracts, noncompete clauses, or restrictive covenants

Contract buyout program: VHA Contract Buy Out Program: This position may be eligible for the Physician / Provider Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which authorizes VHA to buy out service contracts (Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign-on bonus contracts, Physician-owned practices) in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated service (minimum 4 years).
