Job Details
Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking Anesthesiologists for its locations in Jackson, MS, specialized in one of the following areas: General Anesthesia, Neuro Anesthesia, Pediatric Anesthesia, Cardiothoracic Anesthesia, and Critical Care Medicine as well as Interventional Pain Management. Applicants must have a medical degree (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (DO), have graduated from an accredited anesthesia program, have completed a fellowship in at least one specialty, and be certified or eligible for certification with the American Board of Anesthesiologists. Duties for all positions include providing patient care, evaluating patients preoperatively, administering medically-directed anesthetics during surgical procedures, conducting pre and post-anesthesia evaluation and follow-up on any postoperative complications, and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. The Department of Anesthesiology is a part of the University Hospital, one of three specialized hospitals at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson, MS. Our clinical service provides comprehensive pre-operative medical evaluation, anesthetic treatment for medical procedures, the management of acute, chronic or cancer pain, and the provision of trauma, and other specialized anesthetic treatments to patients across Mississippi and other neighboring states. Besides our General Anesthesia division, our subspecialty divisions in anesthesia include Cardiothoracic and Vascular, Obstetric, Pediatric, Ambulatory, Off-Site, Neuro-anesthesia and Pain Services, including Acute Pain and Cancer Pain Services.
With UMMC being the only academic health center in Mississippi, our department has a strong education program. We have a fully accredited four-year residency program and several accredited fellowship programs which include Pain Medicine and our newest fellowship programs, Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and Pediatric Anesthesia.
