The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Howard University in Washington D.C. is seeking a BC/BE Gastroenterologist with fellowship training in advanced endoscopy. This is a clinician-educator track position with 70% of time dedicated to clinical practice. The Howard University College of Medicine s Division of Gastroenterology is based at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC and has a strong tradition of providing outstanding clinical care to individuals living in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area. The selected candidate will concentrate on advanced endoscopy procedures and will provide general gastroenterology care as needed. The candidate will participate in all activities of the Division, which include:
Clinical Activity: The Division of Gastroenterology has a very active clinical practice and is responsible for 4500 outpatient office visits, 900 hospital consultations, and 4000 combined upper and lower endoscopy procedures per year. The Division of Gastroenterology has referral from 300 outside physicians.
Education: Howard is an Historically Black medical school with an accredited GI fellowship program and is a leader in producing minority gastroenterologists. The successful applicant will participate in the education and training of medical students, residents, and GI fellows.
Research: Collaborative opportunities in clinical, translational and basic science research are available. Current faculty participate as authors or co-authors on 10 15 peer-reviewed manuscripts each year.
Faculty appointment rank is commensurate to prior academic and research experience.
