Job Details
The School of Community Medicine, Department of Pediatrics seeks faculty candidates in the area of Child Abuse Pediatrics for its Team for Children at Risk (TCAR). Primary responsibilities will include patient care, resident and student teaching, and participation in scholarly activities. This full-time position offers outstanding opportunities in inpatient and outpatient clinical child abuse practice, teaching, prevention initiatives, research, and active community involvement within a multidisciplinary team. School of Community Medicine faculty are appointed through the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine with academic rank based on qualifications.
Applicants must hold an MD/DO or equivalent degree, be a graduate of an ACGME residency or fellowship, American Board Certified or Board Eligible in Child Abuse Pediatrics, qualified to obtain Oklahoma licensure, and eligible for credentialing under OU Health Physicians as well as area medical facilities.

The School of Community Medicine is an integrated track within the University of Oklahoma, College of Medicine, offering quality medical education on the OU-Tulsa campus. Tulsa is situated in northeast Oklahoma, a beautiful region of the state known as Green Country. The metropolitan area boasts a low cost of living as well as a lively music scene, world-renowned art museums, ballet, and outstanding entertainment venues. Tulsa is also home to USA Today’s Best City Park, a unique recreation area known as the Gathering Place, located along the Arkansas River.
TCAR operates two state-of-the-art clinics located at the Child Advocacy Center (CAC):
- Child Abuse Pediatric Clinic: Dedicated to evaluating children for suspected maltreatment. Fostering Hope of Tulsa: A trauma-informed primary care medical home for children in out-of-home placements.
The CAC serves as the physical hub for Tulsa County's Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). MDT partner agencies include:
- State, tribal, and federal law enforcement District attorneys, tribal attorneys, and federal attorneys Oklahoma child protection workers and Indian Child Welfare workers Family and Children’s Services therapists The Children’s Advocacy Network (CAN)
CAN, a charter member of the National Children’s Alliance, was incorporated in 1988 as the first organization of its kind in Oklahoma. An independent non-profit, CAN is funded through community donations and grants from federal, state, and city sources. CAN has forensic interviewers and family advocates.
In-patient consultations are conducted at two local hospitals:
Saint Francis Children’s Hospital: A 162-bed facility featuring a 20-bed PICU, three general pediatric floors, and a level IV NICU. Its catchment area includes northeastern Oklahoma, southern Kansas, western Arkansas, and southwest Missouri. The hospital also houses a Level II Trauma Pediatric Emergency Center, staffed by pediatric emergency medicine specialists. Hillcrest Medical Center: The designated regional burn unit for the area. TCAR also hosts an ACGME-accredited Child Abuse Pediatrics fellowship program. In addition, it trains medical students and general pediatric residents from both the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine and the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
