The Alexandria VA Medical Center in Alexandria/Pineville, LA, is seeking a full-time, Board Certified, Family Medicine/Internal Medicine physician to serve as its Chief of Primary Care. Known as the 'Heart of Louisiana', Alexandria has been ranked by National Geographic Traveler as one of America's top ten "wilderness towns" because of its incredible access to one of the country's most beautiful and expansive national forests. Highlights of this position include:
  • Competitive Starting Salary $232,000 - $343,000 per year
  • Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7:30am-4:00pm NO CALL
  • Provides administrative, clinical, and programmatic leadership for the service to ensure achievement of the goals of the service
  • Work independently; supervision is mainly advisory in nature
  • Direct patient care, clinical work, oversight, and administration of all aspects of the service
  • Supervise the administrative leads for Primary Care, and support staff
  • Attends all required meetings
  • Monitoring, reporting, and acting on residency and fellowship program, and
  • Oversight of residency and fellowship program
  • Additional duties as assigned
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • At least one-year supervisory experience
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-Citizen candidates will be considered if a U.S. Citizen is not found
  • Current one full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State

  • Possible 5 days for CME’s and up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time with board certification)
  • This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), if approved
  • Recruitment/Relocation may be authorized for highly qualified candidates
  • No Physician Employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
