The Elmezzi Graduate School of Molecular Medicine

The Elmezzi Graduate School of Molecular Medicine, located in Manhasset, NY, offers an accelerated three-to-four-year PhD degree program for individuals with an MD (or equivalent) with a strong emphasis on translational research. The graduate school directly addresses the crucial need for physician-scientists trained to conduct clinically relevant research. Elmezzi’s PhD program is designed to train exceptional physicians to conduct basic and translational research related to human physiology and disease. The PhD degree requirements are heavily focused on students conducting and completing a substantial body of scholarly research under the mentorship of Elmezzi faculty, coupled with a focused core curriculum that builds on the basic science courses taken during medical school and a small number of non-core courses (including Journal Club, Visiting Professor Seminar Series, Grant-writing workshop). The school functions year-round; it is tuition-free, and students receive a salary aligned with a medical resident. New students are accepted in late spring and normally begin their studies in July. Courses are held in the fall/winter and late winter/spring semesters, with laboratory research continuing throughout the summer.
