Vice Dean/Site Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific Northwest
Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU) seeks an individual with a collaborative, visionary and pioneering mindset and extensive leadership experience to serve as Site Dean of COMP-Northwest (hereafter Site Dean COMP-NW) for the Lebanon, Oregon campus. Reporting directly to the Dean of COMP/COMP-NW, the incoming Site Dean COMP-NW is the administrative leader of the academic components that comprise COMP-NW who will ensure strong working relationships with faculty, staff and students.
WesternU is a non-profit, private university with its main campus in Pomona, California and a second campus in Lebanon, Oregon. Founded in 1977, Western University of Health Sciences' mission is to produce, in a humanistic tradition, health care professionals and biomedical knowledge that will enhance and extend the quality of life in our communities. Both campuses offer innovative approaches to medical education, including the use of advanced clinical skills simulation labs and interprofessional collaboration.
The Site Dean COMP-NW is an integral part of the University at large in assisting to strategically planning the growth of COMP-NW and ensuring the mission, values and vision of the College are upheld. The next Site Dean COMP-NW will need to be agile, pioneering and innovative to help lead the Lebanon, Oregon campus forward.
The next Site Dean COMP-NW will have a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an AOA-accredited college of osteopathic medicine, residency training and certification in a specialty discipline of osteopathic medicine, have a minimum of five years of experience as a current or former Department Chair, Vice Chair, Assistant/Associate Dean, Program or Residency Director, or equivalent experience in an osteopathic or allopathic medical college or program. A minimum of 10-15 years working with leaders in healthcare, business, academia, or equivalent experience required.
The qualities and qualifications of the successful individual will include but are not limited to: effective communication skills, support advocacy, a proponent of diversity, a commitment to an innovative vision for student and faculty research, supporting student-centered learning in an environment where students can thrive, provide excellent patient care, and be prepared for the rigors of residency, and a strong commitment to the field of osteopathic medicine.
