Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Transplant Institute, is seeking an experienced board-certified Transplant Hepatologist to serve as the Medical Director of their upcoming Living Donor Liver Transplantation program. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional clinical, interpersonal, and leadership skills to help build and grow the program, which is planned to launch in late 2025. Some of the administrative duties include developing and maintaining living donor administrative, quality, and regulatory policies, participating in business development activities and community outreach to promote and increase referrals to the Living Donor program. The candidate will be one of 5 transplant hepatologists and 7 advanced practice providers in the liver transplant and hepatology service line.

Clinical duties include

  • Outpatient clinic (general hepatology, pre- and post-transplant patients), supported by experienced hepatology APP providers and transplant assistants
  • Outpatient and inpatient endoscopy
  • Inpatient hepatology service, supported by skilled hepatology NPs and GI fellows
  • Night/weekend GI call (negotiable)
  • Participation in transplant committees and educational conferences, including Multidisciplinary Liver Tumor Board, Pretransplant Selection Committee, Transplant M&M, Liver Pathology conference, and Transplant Journal club
  • Research and training of students, residents, and fellows in hepatology and liver transplantation
Qualifications:

  • Board certification in Transplant Hepatology and Gastroenterology
  • Current CA medical license or eligible for unrestricted CA medical license
  • Expertise in living donor liver transplantation
The Loma Linda Liver Transplant program is one of the largest in California, averaging 110 deceased-donor liver transplants per year, with satellite clinics in Palm Springs, Murrieta, Riverside, and Las Vegas. Loma Linda also supports a high-volume kidney and pancreas transplant program, with a robust living donor kidney program.

Loma Linda University Health is the only tertiary/quaternary program in the Inland Empire, serving Riverside and San Bernardino counties with a combined population of >4 million. Both the Transplant Institute clinic and the University hospital are brand new state-of-the-art facilities. Nestled at the foot of the mountains, there are many nearby recreational opportunities, with excellent schools and lower cost of living than many areas in California.

Compensation & Benefits

Expected Total Annual Compensation: $400,000 - $475,000

The compensation range listed above includes variable compensation and is based on a 1.0 FTE work schedule/effort, as outlined in the individual department compensation plan. The compensation range for starting base compensation only, which is adjusted in accordance with years of experience and/or faculty rank, is expected to be $375,000 - $450,000. More information on compensation is discussed with the department during the recruitment process.
