Responsibilities

We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible pediatrician who has an interest in working in a level III or IV NICU as a neonatal ICU hospitalist. Under the supervision of our neonatologist, the neonatal ICU hospitalist enjoys the ability to work in a higher scope without additional training.

Our dedicated neonatologists, NNPs, and pediatricians provide excellent care to the patients of Austin, Texas, and its surrounding areas. Our team cares for infants at our state-of-the-art Level IV NICU at Dell Children's Medical Center, a leading provider of pediatric care in Central Texas. We also provide specialized care for infants requiring Level II and Level III NICU services at our multiple Ascension Seton Hospitals.

  • Clinical responsibilities include prenatal and newborn consultations, attendance of high-risk deliveries, and comprehensive management of neonates in the NICU and newborn nurseries throughout our multiple hospital units.
  • Scheduling includes 24-hour shifts
  • Medical services include HFOV, nitric oxide, and total body cooling
  • NICU supported by strong MFM program and pediatric sub-specialties
  • Neonatologists remain in-house
  • Cohesive and collegial group with very low turnover
  • Numerous opportunities for development: education, mentoring, quality improvement, research, policy development, leadership
  • Experienced providers and new graduates are welcome to apply

Our practice is quickly growing alongside the city of Austin, with these recent additions:

  • Special Delivery Unit at Dell Children's Medical Center, one of the few delivery centers in the nation attached to a children's hospital
  • Comprehensive Fetal Care Center
  • Neonatal Fellowship Program established July 2022
  • Partnership with UT Dell Medical School
  • Rapidly expanding neonatal cardiac services
  • Point of care ultrasound (POCUS) capabilities
  • Network wide, data driven, interdisciplinary simulation program

Practice coverage spans multiple sites, but we are hiring a neonatal ICU hospitalist for the below locations:

  • Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, Level IV unit, with private rooms for neonatal surgical services, cardiac services, advance imaging procedures, and many pediatric medical sub-specialties
