The Division of Cardiology in The Heart Institute at Stony Brook University Hospital is recruiting a full-time academic (Assistant or Associate or Full Professor levels) non-structural Interventional and Consultative Cardiologist to serve the increasing population of the South Fork of Long Island that includes most of the Hamptons all the way out to Montauk and receiving patient visits from the North Fork, Riverhead all the way west to Brookhaven. The ideal candidate will become an integral part of a highly collegial, innovative, and award-winning faculty committed to outstanding patient care; excellence in the mentoring and the teaching of residents and cardiology fellows.

The ideal applicant:

 

 

  • Enjoy a balance of outpatient and inpatient clinical care responsibilities and the opportunity to participate in the interpreting of echocardiograms, performance of TEEs, reading of nuclear/stress testing, and vascular imaging.
  • Share STEMI, hospital and ER call.
  • Applicants should be board-certified/eligible in cardiovascular disease.
  • Level II training in imaging is advantageous.

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is a 125-bed Joint Commission-accredited hospital with both cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratories, a Level III Trauma Center, and a New York State-designated Stroke Center. The hospital admits more than 6,000 patients annually with over 25,000 emergency department visits each year. Located in the heart of Southampton Village, the hospital has been named as one of the top workplaces by Newsday, a testament to the warmth of a community hospital coupled with the resources of a major medical center. The South Fork is also home to the Shinnecock Nation, a self-governing, state-recognized tribe of 375 persons. Additionally, passenger ferry service runs occasionally between Montauk and Block Island, RI, New London, CT, and Martha's Vineyard, MA.


Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

MD, DO or MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent). Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Board certified/eligible in Cardiovascular Disease with advanced certification in at least interventional cardiology. Excellence in clinical care and teaching in cardiology (inpatient and outpatient).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

If imaging interpretation is desired, minimal level II training in echocardiography or advanced imaging, including nuclear training.
