Midlands Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery is the only private practice physician group providing neurosurgical, orthopaedic and pain management services in the Midlands of South Carolina. We are focused on growing our neurosurgical spine program with a particular emphasis on the ASC setting. To date, we have performed over 1,500 advanced outpatient spine procedures to include lumbar fusion in our ASC. Overnight stay is available as well as interoperative neuro-navigation capabilities to facilitate the most advanced, minimally-invasive ASC spine surgery options. Efficiency is enhanced by top-notch OR teams.
We strive to be a low-cost leader while also excelling in innovation and quality as evidenced by the ASC’s designation as a Blue Distinction+ Center for Spine Surgery. As a result, our practice has become a destination for many out-of-state patients. We are well-positioned to leverage the dramatic and rapid shift to ASCs as health care purchasers nationally recognize the value of ASC surgery.
Strong collegiality among physicians, combined with an entrepreneurial and fiercely independent spirit, provides rich practice opportunities. Physicians are provided tremendous flexibility in crafting their practices to leverage their specific interests and goals. Neurosurgeons cover non-trauma ED call at one local hospital. In-house pain management and orthopaedic physicians ensure efficient referral and support of our spine program.
We are committed to improving overall musculoskeletal and neurological health and quality of life for our patients in a private practice setting. 18 physicians include 2 neurosurgeons, 14 sub-specialty trained orthopaedic surgeons, 1 family practice sports medicine physician and 1 pain management physician. Four practice locations are supplemented by ancillary services that include MRI, DXA, DME, Physical & Occupational Therapy and an Ambulatory Surgery Center with 4 OR suites.
Centrally located in the capital city of South Carolina, we serve a large number of state and local government employees, the University of South Carolina as well as numerous strong private employers drawing from a referral area of approximately 850,000 people.Mild winters and warm summers allow residents to enjoy many outdoor recreational activities year-round. A large lake and multiple rivers converge in Columbia, making watersports a leading activity in the area. Just a few hours from the beach, mountains, Charlotte or Atlanta, Columbia offers an enjoyable and cost-effective lifestyle. Columbia’s unique blend of tradition, centuries-old history and fresh perspectives are reflected in engaging local attractions and events including major college sports, arts and entertainment.
No practice location is more than 20 miles from Columbia Metropolitan Airport. School systems include Richland County School Districts One and Two; Lexington County School District One; District 5 of Lexington and Richland Counties; and multiple private schools.
