Job Description

SSM Health – Dean Medical Group, a 500+ multi-specialty group, is actively recruiting a Board Certified/Board Eligible General Surgeon for a full-time (0.8-1.0 FTE) position in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

Opportunity Highlights:
  • Ideal candidate will have a broad skillset and be patient centered and service oriented.
  • Practice will include both upper and lower endoscopies.
  • Practice will include elective C sections (no prior C-section experience required as we are willing to mentor and train a new provider)
  • Clinic has a wide variety of specialties offering a substantial referral network.
  • Weekday call requirement and 1:6 weekends (Friday 5pm until Sunday 9pm)
  • Call includes all ER and inpatient consults (general surgery, colonoscopies, EGD, C sections) as well as rounding on inpatients.
  • Epic EMR
  • Excellent compensation, a signing bonus, and fringe benefits will be provided.

Requirements:
  • Active unrestricted WI medical license
  • Active unrestricted WI DEA
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in General Surgery
  • Must maintain Board Certification in General Surgery

Hospital Overview
  • The Baraboo Clinic is adjacent to SSM Health - St. Clare Hospital, a 27-bed facility with 24-hour, Level 3 Trauma Center with ER coverage (contracted through Madison Emergency Physicians). There is 24/7 Hospitalist coverage, full lab and pathology services, and an average of 300 deliveries/year.
  • The ICU consists of 6 beds, and the hospital contracts with the UW for e-ICU telemedicine.

Baraboo, a picturesque community of just over 10,000, is nestled in the rolling hills of Sauk County in South-Central Wisconsin, and is located just 40 miles north of Madison and very close to Devil's Lake State Park & the Wisconsin Dells area.

The region has some of the most beautiful natural geological scenery in the Midwest. Towering sandstone layered bluffs are available in abundance. Devil's Lake State Park & Mirror Lake State Park offer nature lovers opportunities for camping, swimming, hiking, kayaking, & canoeing. Baraboo is the home of the Circus World Museum, the former headquarters & winter home of the Ringling Brothers Circus. The Ringling Theatre is an active landmark for the area.
