The Memphis, Tennessee Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) has an opening for a Board-Certified Infectious Disease Physician. Clinical activities may include, clinical assessment and evaluation, healthcare management of assigned veteran patients with acute and chronic illnesses; ordering and interpreting laboratory, diagnostic studies, consultations, referrals, patient follow-up, health promotion, disease prevention, clinical research, and patient/family/staff education and counseling. Position requirements include, but not limited to:

    Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia.
    Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
    Meet requirements for academic appointment at affiliate, University of TN Health Science Center.
    Clinical practice, supervising and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students in the specialties of Infectious Disease/Internal Medicine
    Possess the skillset to teach/train residents in Antibiotic Stewardship
    Participate in appropriate subspecialty committees: Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), and Antibiotic Stewardship Program (ASP).
    Provide consultation on various forms of infectious diseases, both diagnosis and treatment for inpatient and outpatient settings.
    Assist with outpatient telehealth clinic with VVC appointments and face-to-face.
    Current BLS/CPR certification.
    Be proficient in the written and spoken use of the English language. 
    US Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.

Position Highlights:

Pay: $240,000 - $280,000

Pay Incentives: Annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $2,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm with occasional call
