The One Brooklyn Health System Chair of Medicine will provide strategic leadership, direction, and coordination for the clinical and teaching components of Departments of Medicine while working collaboratively with clinical and administrative leadership to meet and exceed hospital clinical and business goals. The Chair will maintain the highest quality of medical care for the Department while growing volume. Furthermore, the Chair will provide leadership, ensuring a high level of cooperation, communication among the staff, and will be responsible for promoting and maintaining excellence and integrity in quality and patient care by monitoring volume, clinical quality, operations improvements, residency programs, and financial performance of the Department. They will also work towards improving the health care of the community. The Chair will be accountable for overall planning, directing, and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures for the Department of Medicine, ensuring the integration of scientifically based, outcome-evaluated clinical knowledge and skills.

Education & Licenses:

  • M.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Active Board Certification in Internal Medicine and/or relevant medical subspecialty required.
  • Eligibility for permanent, unrestricted licensure in New York required


  • Minimum 5-10 years of clinical leadership and 3 years of teaching/academic experience.
  • 5-10 years medical experience and experience as a Unit or Specialty Head in a hospital or other health care facility.

One Brooklyn Health System (OBHS), a not-for-profit, is the New York State Department of Health-approved co-operator of Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, Interfaith Medical Center, and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. OBHS seeks to preserve and enhance access to healthcare services in Brooklyn by coalescing the separate hospitals and their governed affiliates into a sustainable, quality integrated health system.

In January 2018, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that OBHS was awarded $664 million in capital funding from the NYS Department of Health (Health Care Facilities Transformation Program): Kings County project.
