Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Program Director of Residency to the Psychiatry group at Metropolitan Hospital Center. NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan Hospital's Department of Psychiatry is at the forefront of providing compassionate and comprehensive mental health services in a dynamic and diverse urban setting.

We serve a vibrant community in New York City, offering a wide range of psychiatric services to individuals and families from all backgrounds across our 4 adult inpatient psychiatric units, 1 Adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit, our psychiatric emergency department, our substance use disorder services and robust adult and child ambulatory programs that deliver in-person and telehealth services. Our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to innovation and excellence, providing a supportive environment for both patients and staff. The hospital has a psychiatry residency program and maintains a strong academic affiliation with New York Medical College to continue its high standards of healthcare delivery, and to provide its staff with teaching and research opportunities.

  • Under the direction of the Chief of the Psychiatry, direct, oversee, manage and evaluate all aspects of clinical services and medical education provided by members of the residency program to deliver accredited behavioral health services that meet all standards required by law; perform full range of administrative/operational responsibilities to ensure the efficient achievement of residency program goals.
  • Prepare monitor and follow up on residency Performance Indicators.
  • Prepare strategic planning for the residency
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of monthly schedules for teaching of students and residents.
  • Other Details:
  • Foster the academic and professional development of the residents
  • Participate with the Hospital in the development and implementation of mechanisms and measures to optimize the appropriate utilization of behavioral health services, quality assurance and patient satisfaction
  • Plans joint programs and procedures with other departments for coordinating services with other patient care services.
  • With the Chair of Psychiatry, establishes residency training program capital equipment needs and capital equipment purchasing plan.
  • Participates in the Department's Quality Assessment and Improvement Committee.
  • Acts as direct supervisor and consultant for all staff assigned to residency program.
  • Participates in educational meetings to improve and provide continuous quality training to residents
  • Establishes mechanisms for interviewing new residents and onboarding/orientating and providing in-service training for new residents
  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the residency training program to maintain a satisfactory training experience
  • Participate in other related responsibilities as assigned by the Chair of Psychiatry

  • Demonstrate appropriate professionalism (as defined by the Medical Director and the management and governance of PAGNY) in all leadership and clinical activities
  • Knowledge of Patient Safety Requirements.
  • Qualifications
  • Must be board-eligible or board-certified in Psychiatry
  • D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine
  • Completed residency training in an accredited program within Psychiatry
  • NYS License
