MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, on behalf of the Mason City Clinic, has an excellent full-time opportunity for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon to join the Plastics Department located in Mason City, Iowa.
The Plastic and Reconstructive Department is looking for a Plastic Surgeon to join the practice. The Department currently consists of two Surgeons and two PAs. The surgeons perform most surgeries at either the local hospital (MercyOne - North Iowa Medical Center, a 342-bed regional referral teaching hospital) or the Ambulatory Surgery Center located on the same campus, across the parking lot. There is investment opportunity in the ASC. The local hospital has physician staffed ED & hospitalist services.
MercyOne - North Iowa is a level II regional referral trauma center. It is a faith-based, not-for-profit community health care system. The Mercy Health Network spans 15 counties across northern Iowa and consists of a network of 8 rural primary care hospitals, Mercy Clinics, home health agency, hospice, senior services agency, regional referral laboratory, regional rehabilitation and diagnostic technology services, pharmacies, an emergency services network, and a variety of other health care services.

Mason City is a family friendly community of approximately 30,000. Our service area encompasses about a 15-county area which consists of a patient population of about 260,000. Mason City Clinic is a multi-specialty physician group without primary care. All of our physicians are specialists.
Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Evaluates patients. In doing so, reviews and interprets patients health history, conducts physical exam, and reviews laboratory, x-ray, and other test reports to determine diagnosis.
- Based on results of patients evaluation, develops and implements treatment plan and provides education to patients.
- Performs surgical procedures.
- Evaluates hospitalized patient during preop and postop period, monitors progress, and releases patient from hospital.
- Recognizes abnormal patient responses to treatment, surgery and/or medication and implements corrective actions as appropriate.
- Documents all aspects of care provided. Completes paperwork necessary to assure payment for services rendered.
- Participates in the call coverage as assigned.
- Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related material, and by attending seminars, conferences and so forth.
