Northwell Health, one of the nation s largest academic healthcare systems, is recruiting a Physician System Director of Heart Failure. This position oversees a growing system-wide heart failure program, which includes the complement of clinical, investigative, and educational offerings.

Northwell Health is comprised of 21 hospitals, including four tertiary hospitals and one quaternary hospital, the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at North Shore University Hospital. There are also ~850 sites across Northwell which deliver seamless ambulatory care. Northwell Health employs 84,000 individuals including 18,900 nurses and 4,900 employed doctors (including 320 cardiologists, 35 cardio-thoracic surgeons) all working to change health care for the better. To do this, it takes coordination, standardization, oversight, and a drive to be the best.

Northwell Health s Department of Cardiology provides comprehensive, integrated healthcare and wellness services to approximately one quarter of New York State s population. We take care of all cardiovascular patient needs, from prevention, to intervention, to transplantation. We have a wide referral network and continue to see tremendous clinical and academic growth year over year. The Heart Failure Program across Northwell Health is a multidisciplinary team including heart failure cardiologists and surgeons, advanced clinical providers and registered nurses, as well as pharmacy, behavioral health, social work, exercise physiology, and nutritional services. We offer the full spectrum of care to the advanced heart failure patient from medical to device and surgical therapies such as CardioMems implantation, cardiac resynchronization therapy, cardiac contractility technology, Barostim , high risk cardiac surgery and structural heart, temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support including surgical left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), and heart and lung transplantation.

The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research anchor the academic mission at Northwell. We have translational and clinical trial research programs that allow us to provide access to our patients with the most advanced research and innovative medical-device therapies. Northwell Health has one of the largest graduate medical education programs in the country, including training in all areas of cardiology, including advanced heart failure. Our faculty are active teachers at all levels, from medical students, to trainees, and beyond.

The ideal candidate will be ABIM Board Certified in Cardiology and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology. This role includes clinical, administrative, research, and educational opportunities. Leadership experience is expected.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. In addition, an academic appointment with the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell is commensurate with credentials and experience. Physicians will be employed as members of Northwell Physician Partners, the fifth largest medical group in the country.
