Hurley Medical Center has a diverse patient population, a wide spectrum of cases, and a focus on recognizing and addressing health disparities. We deliver approximately 3,000 babies per year. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is comprised of a dynamic group of faculty physicians, private physicians, certified nurse midwives, and registered nurses.

We have a Level III NICU and Center for Maternal Fetal Medicine which allows us to manage high risk pregnancies. There is opportunity to perform minimally invasive robotic surgery with the Xi da Vinci surgical system. The Residency Program has maintained ACGME accreditation without citations. We produce diverse and talented graduates who go on to pursue successful careers as specialists or subspecialists.

The candidate must be willing and able to participate in all aspects of care including obstetrics, benign gynecologic surgery, and outpatient clinic. Furthermore, as core faculty the candidate must participate in the education and training of residents and medical students.

  • Provide clinical coverage and resident supervision four to five days per week.
  • Provide or assist in the administrative duties of the residency program.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional committees.

The Flint community’s vibrant downtown offers a nationally recognized Farmers’ Market; restored historical theater; restaurants, clubs, breweries, coffee and gift shops; live music; special events such as "Back to the Bricks" classic car cruise and the world-class Crim Festival of Races; and a cultural center with art exhibits, film festivals, art walks, planetarium, live theater, discovery museum, institutes of music and art, repertory theater, library and gardens. City kayaking and bike trails are easily accessible, as are winter ice-skating, children’s museum and a public golf course. Flint’s mid-Michigan location is minutes from hiking trails, swimming, fishing, hunting, ski hills, cider mills, pumpkin patches, dairy farms, antiquing, movie theaters, shopping, golf courses, dog parks, off-roading park, horseback riding, and mountain biking; and - for day trips – about an hour’s drive from popular restaurants, museums, theaters, sports, and other adventures in Detroit, Ann Arbor, and East Lansing.

To refresh on long weekends, explore Michigan’s natural wonders, such as 5 Great Lakes, sand dunes, beach towns, lighthouses, golf courses, lakes, bike trails, camping, hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, birding, zip-lining, ropes-course challenges, boating, swimming, foodie explorations, vineyard tours, concerts, ice cream, haunted Halloween houses, zoos, and other agritourism.
