Position Description
Serve as a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry.  Teach medical students, residents, and fellows in the areas of Psychiatry and Pediatric/Child Psychology as part of the Department of Psychiatry in Amarillo, TX; Provide clinical services and patient care, and maintain clinical records; Engage in clinical research and writing; and Provide community and university service.

Major/Essential Functions - Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, patient care, research and service.  Teaching residents and medical students.  Giving lectures and teaching sessions to residents and medical students.  Medical practice in areas of Psychiatry and Pediatric/Child Psychology.  Adhere to institutional and departmental policies and procedures.

Occasional Duties
Maintain or develop an academic research program in the fields of Psychiatry and Pediatric/Child Psychology.  May conduct inpatient teaching rounds.

Required Qualifications
Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held.  Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity.

Preferred Qualifications
Requires:  M.D., D.O., or Foreign medical degree equivalent; Completion of residencies in Pediatrics and Psychiatry; Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatrics and Psychiatry; and eligible to obtain a Texas State Medical License.
