Chair, Department of Medicine

Salem Hospital, a member of the Mass General Brigham healthcare system and located in Salem, MA (just 15 miles north of Boston), is seeking a Chair of the Department of Medicine.  The Chair will be the key clinical, strategic, and operational leader for the ongoing operations and development all medical services at Salem Hospital.  Working with other Salem Hospital and Mass General Brigham leaders, responsible for creating and implementing system-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies and goals and identifying critical focus areas.

This position represents an outstanding opportunity for a highly distinguished physician to establish vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the Department of Medicine. The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker, have demonstrated success using the Lean methodology, and have proven clinical and administrative leadership and communication acumen.  A minimum of five years of related clinical leadership is required.

Candidates must be board certified in Internal Medicine. Further education with an MPH or MBA is preferred but not required.  It is expected that the Chair will allocate a portion of his/her time towards administrative duties with the remaining time allocated to clinical services.
