The Department of Pediatrics and the Eli and Edythe Broad Center for Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) are seeking an innovative physician-scientist. Appointment will be made at the Assistant rank in the In Residence faculty series. Academic rank is commensurate with experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an independent, thriving bench research program and collaborating with UCSF's stem cell biology and gene therapy communities.

We are specifically looking for candidates whose teaching, research, community engagement, and prior experiences demonstrate a commitment to diversity and excellence. This commitment is essential for enhancing the training environment for our diverse graduate student and postdoctoral communities at UCSF.

The selected candidate will become a part of a prominent academic medical center with a well- established training program. This role may involve clinical responsibilities at both the San Francisco and Oakland campuses and will actively contribute to the Department's mission of excellence in research, education, and patient care.

Qualifications:

• Applicants should possess an MD/PhD, a medical license, and board certification in Pediatrics, as well as board certification in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
• Significant experience in pediatric hematopoietic cell transplantation is essential.
• Candidates are expected to have a demonstrable track record of successfully securing
extramural funding as a Principal Investigator.
• A current faculty appointment at the Assistant rank is a requirement.
• Clinical training and experience in transplantation, pediatric bone marrow failure, and myelodysplastic syndromes preferred.
• Commitment to diversity and excellence.

The Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research:

The Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research is one of the largest and most comprehensive programs of its kind. Our mission is to combine yesterday's discoveries to create tomorrow's breakthroughs and shape the future of medicine.

The UCSF Broad Stem Cell Center is structured around eight research pipelines aimed at driving discoveries from the lab bench to the patient. Each pipeline focuses on a different organ system—reproductive, neural, blood, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, epithelial (gastrointestinal & skin), ophthalmology, pancreas and liver.

We foster a highly collaborative culture, encouraging the cross-pollination of ideas between scientists of different disciplines and years of experience. Researchers studying pancreatic beta cells damaged in diabetes collaborate with those studying nervous system diseases because at the heart of their research are stem cells that undergo similar molecular signaling on the way to becoming both cell types. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. This position includes membership in the [health sciences compensation plan](https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
