Hartford HealthCare Medical Group, Inc. (HHCMG) seeks a full-time Acute Care Surgery Physician to: Provide acute surgical care, including critical, trauma, and emergency surgical care, as well as provide surgical services in the wound care clinic and for elective surgical cases; participate in call coverage proportionate to similarly situated physicians; maintain approximately three (3) days per month of non-clinical hours to perform administrative, teaching and research duties. These teaching duties consist of serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Quinnipiac University’s Frank H. Netter, MD School of Medicine and include leading weekly case discussions with medical students in various fields of general and acute care surgery; conducting educational patient rounds with medical students of approximately 30 minutes to an hour in length; and providing guidance to medical students in the basics of surgery in the operating room. The Acute Care Surgery Physician will also give presentations at local, national or international medical meetings and attain and maintain committee memberships in medical societies. The minimum requirements for the Acute Care Surgery Physician position are: a U.S. medical degree or its foreign equivalent; successful completion of accredited five-year residency in Surgery and accredited one-year fellowship in Surgical Critical Care; three years of prior work experience as an Acute Care Surgeon; eligibility for or possession of Connecticut medical license and eligibility for or possession of board certification in Surgery and in Surgical Critical Care.
