Boston Children’s Hospital
Pediatric Hospital Medicine, Complex Care Positions Available
Pediatric Hospital Medicine and Complex Care in the Division of General Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) are seeking BC/BE pediatricians and hospitalists to provide high-quality, inpatient medical and post-operative surgical care to hospitalized children with medical complexity. Children with medical complexity have life-limiting chronic conditions that affect multiple body systems and that significantly impact functioning and wellbeing. The inpatient needs of these children are met at BCH through a variety of innovative health services, including a dedicated hospitalist service for children with medical complexity, founded over 15 years ago. These health services are built on strong, long-standing clinical collaborations with surgical specialties (e.g., craniofacial, orthopaedic, neurosurgery) and medical specialties (e.g., gastroenterology, neurology, and pulmonology). On our inpatient teams, complex care hospitalists integrate with advance practice nurses, social workers, and case managers as well as with providers from our robust, outpatient Complex Care clinical program that serves over 3,000 children with medical complexity throughout New England and beyond. Active teaching on hospital care of children with medical complexity occurs regularly to medical students, pediatric residents, fellows (hospital medicine and complex care), and advanced practice practitioners.
Our complex care hospitalist faculty lead and actively participate in local, national, and international projects on quality improvement, research, medical education, medical informatics, finance, and policy for children with medical complexity. Academic opportunities are particularly ample in perioperative care for children with medical complexity.
Hospitalist experience caring for children with medical complexity is desirable. Fellowship training and/or pediatric hospital medicine board certification are also desired, but not required. Boston Children’s Hospital is a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School and the pediatric staff will obtain an academic appointment at the level of Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor.
