About the clinician's workday
All shifts are 12-hour shifts 7a-7p or 7p-7a. They would prefer that the locum work 5 nights per month in addition to days, just like the perms do that are going out on leave. Will block shifts together for locums. Peds hospitalists must be able to handle Newborn H&Ps and follow them through discharge. Level III NICU staffed by NNPs and MDs are on site during the day. Peds Hospitalists care for post-op care from Pediatric Surgeons. There are 2 docs there from 7a-7p. No circumcisions are required however lumbar puncture (rare but must be performed if needed) and high-flow nasal cannula are required. The NICU team typically handles high-risk deliveries but Peds hosp will assist as backup if multiple deliveries at the same time.
