The Carl J Shapiro Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (an affiliate of Beth Israel Lahey Health) and Harvard Medical School seek applications and nominations for Chief of the Division of Arthroplasty and Joint Reconstruction, an employed position of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at BIDMC, Inc. (HMFP). The successful candidate for this full-time academic position will be a board certified and fellowship trained orthopedic arthroplasty surgeon with experience in building and sustaining clinical and research programs. The incumbent is expected to provide strong leadership for the clinical, educational, and scientific activities within the Division and engage leadership at BIDMC to grow arthroplasty surgery, research, and education at BIDMC, in collaboration with our partners in musculoskeletal care across the Beth Israel Lahey Health network. Preferential consideration will be given to applicants who possess a strong academic track record, proven administrative and leadership abilities, and outstanding teaching skills. Upon hire, the new Chief will be nominated for a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School (HMS) at an academic rank commensurate with experience, training and achievements. Faculty appointment decisions are solely the purview of HMS.
Clinical practice will be based at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Level I trauma center in the heart of Boston’s Longwood Medical Area, with additional clinical opportunities or requirements for practice at other sites within the Beth Israel Lahey Health network.
