The Division Chair of Hospital Medicine is a unique opportunity for an exceptionally qualified individual to lead a hospital medicine academic division of the future.

  • Model and encourage exceptional clinical care with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Develop systems to optimize and adapt patient care to the changing healthcare environment.
  • Build upon the hospital medicine academic portfolio.
  • Develop and guide new strategic initiatives.

Key Division characteristics:

  • 77 physicians, 29 Advanced Practice Providers
  • Two hospital medicine programs encompassing patients at four hospitals
  • 1000 discharges per month in each program
  • Integral part of the internal medicine residency, medical student rotations
  • Advanced Practice Provider fellowship in hospital medicine
  • Active initiatives in patient progression, utilization management, quality and safety

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine
  • Eligibility for or current licensure in Massachusetts
  • Background consistent with appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor
  • Additional business and leadership training is desirable

Experience:

  • At least 10 years of experience as a practicing hospitalist
  • Leadership experience in an academic inpatient environment
  • Track record in change management, innovation and team building
  • Experience working with advanced practice provider colleagues
  • Burlington, Massachusetts is 17 miles north of Boston and a short drive to the mountains, lakes and seaside of New England as well as cultural opportunities of Boston.
