Buffalo, NY - The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (JSMBS) and the Department of Medicine seek an accomplished, inspiring, and collaborative physician leader to serve as its next Chief of Nephrology (Chief). This is an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic academic leader to develop and implement a vision propelling the Division to a national leading program.
JSMBS is one of six schools at the University of Buffalo (UB) that sits within the Academic Health Center (AHC). In addition to JSMBS, the AHC is comprised of the school of Dental Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Public Health and Health Professions and Social Work. Together, they offer leading-edge clinical, research and educational programs. For clinical practice, the AHC offers a unique consortium of affiliated teaching hospitals and health care systems to provide a wide range of clinical experience and training opportunities to faculty, staff and students. The consortium includes: Kaleida Health System, Erie County Medical Center, Great Lakes Health System of Western New York, VA Western New York Healthcare System, Catholic Health System and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The Division of Nephrology has a rich history of success and is committed to furthering the field. It is known for world-class faculty, an excellent fellowship program, a funded research program and compassionate patient centered care. The nephrology Division offers comprehensive care programs, a transplant program, and provides a wide range of services across Buffalo with partnerships with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo VA Medical Center and community nephrology providers.
The Chief will enhance clinical programs, educational curriculum and scholarly activity while continuing to meet and exceed national standards of excellence. This leader will foster a collaborative environment to serve as a mentor, develop the careers of faculty and advance the tripartite mission. The Chief will demonstrate the collaborative ability to work well with multiple partners and stakeholders to achieve success. The successful candidate will be a visible leader who has a passion for providing outstanding care, a desire to improve systems, create new avenues for growth and lead within a team setting. An MD, MD/PhD or DO degree is required as is board certification in Nephrology; active engagement in clinical practice is a requirement. An advanced degree in healthcare or a business-related field is desired. It is expected the candidate will be eligible for academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level at JSMBS.
All nominations, expressions of interest and applications including a cover letter and CV should be directed to Vineeth Gossain, Patrice Weiss MD, and Jillian Williams preferably via e-mail to jwilliams@wittkieffer.com.
