Gynecology Surgeon

The VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHCS) is seeking a Gynecology Surgeon at the Jennifer Moreno Medical Center in La Jolla.

The Gynecologist physician is assigned to Surgical Services, Gynecology Section, of the VA San Diego Healthcare System.  They provide comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the scope of Gynecology services, such as repair, removal, reconstruction, replacement, diversion, and other standard of care therapies involving endocrine and reproductive systems including infertility issues and others included in Gynecology board certification requirements.  Conducts special procedures such as exploratory laparotomy, exploratory and lysis adhesions, and hysterectomy (all types). We are seeking someone with experience in an ambulatory setting and with minimally invasive procedures.

The scope of these activities covers hospitalized patients and all phases of ambulatory care. This care may be provided in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

The physician is responsible for teaching medical students and house staff during clinic, surgery, ward rounds, and in conference while providing supervisory control. When required, they may provide consultation throughout the VASDHCS. A major percentage of the physicians’ time will be devoted to patient care. Depending on other activities, sufficient time will be allotted to teaching, research, and administrative duties, as appropriate. The physician will be required to monitor the activities of the Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners assigned to the Gynecology Section, to ensure compliance with all policies, regulations, and accreditation standards.
