This is an extraordinary opportunity to advance the department across all missions, broaden its impact on the community and the field of dermatology, and build upon the MCW’s national and international profile in education and research. The Chair has responsibility for defining the clinical, research, educational, and community engagement priorities of the Department. Of particular importance is strong clinical leadership experience in a highly matrixed academic setting, along with the skillset to successfully recruit, think strategically, mentor, collaborate, and understand the ever-changing healthcare environment.
The Department is renowned for its nationally recognized clinical, education and research programs and with an annual budget of $10M, the Department is comprised of 15 adult faculty, 5 pediatric faculty, 8 advanced practice providers, providing care for almost 16,000 adult patients per year at Froedtert Hospital alone and well over 17,000 pediatric patients per year at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and off-campus clinics. MCW and the Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center created a partnership in 1946, with the goal to provide enough physicians to meet the medical needs of the millions of Americans returning from World War II. More than seven decades later, the collaboration continues to further the missions of both entities by offering cutting-edge care for veterans and their families and enriching the professional development of medical students, residents, interns, and fellows.
The Chair of Dermatology will be an accomplished physician, administrator, and inspirational leader, prepared to devote this phase of their career to the advancement of the faculty, the department, and the medical school at a premier academic medical center. The successful candidate will be an individual with an engaging and open leadership style, one who can inspire faculty, learners, patients, and potential donors alike. The Chair will promote clinical excellence and academic activity across the many idea venues of a diverse health sciences university community. They will provide strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the Department, as well as for MCW and its affiliate partners.
