Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Obstetrician-Gynecologist (OB/GYN) physician to join our team at a freestanding birthing center. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing comprehensive care to pregnant individuals and women's health services in a supportive, patient-centered environment. This role requires a strong commitment to natural childbirth of low risk women and a holistic approach to women's health.
Responsibilities:
Prenatal Care:
- Conduct thorough initial assessments and regular prenatal visits to monitor the health of pregnant individuals.
- Provide counseling on nutrition, exercise, and overall prenatal care.
- Perform ultrasounds and other necessary diagnostic tests to monitor fetal development.
Labor and Delivery:
- Attend births at the birthing center, performing and assisting with natural deliveries.
- Provide continuous support during labor and facilitate a comfortable and safe birthing experience.
- Address any emergent situations or complications that may arise during labor.
Postpartum Care:
- Provide postpartum care to both the birthing person and the newborn, ensuring their well-being.
- Offer guidance on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
Women's Health Services:
- Perform routine gynecological examinations, screenings, and preventive care.
- Diagnose and treat gynecological conditions, including but not limited to menstrual disorders, infections, and hormonal imbalances.
Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with midwives, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic and comprehensive care for patients.
- Consult and collaborate with specialists when needed for complex cases.
Education and Counseling:
- Educate patients about various birthing options, including natural childbirth techniques and pain management strategies.
- Provide informed consent discussions and answer any questions or concerns.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including prenatal and postpartum documentation.
- Ensure proper documentation of labor and delivery events and outcomes.
Continuing Education:
- Stay updated with the latest developments in obstetrics, gynecology, and women's health.
- Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and seminars to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) and board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Valid state medical license and any necessary certifications required to practice.
- Extensive experience in obstetric care, with a focus on natural childbirth.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care.
- Proficiency in handling obstetric emergencies and complications.
- Commitment to promoting natural childbirth and a holistic approach to women's health.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based care model.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Dedication to ongoing professional development and staying current with medical advancements.
