The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute is recruiting a cardiologist to join our expanding team in the role of Chair of Cardiology for the UPMC Passavant HVI. This position requires excellence in clinical cardiology and significant administrative skills. The role may include additional opportunities in research and teaching.

Candidates should be focused on providing high quality patient care, be interested in building a robust clinical practice, and have the flexibility to work in various clinical and hospital settings. He/she will participate in outreach efforts for the HVI, expanding inpatient and outpatient activities at locations within the HVI service area.

Clinical job duties include general cardiology services in both the inpatient and outpatient setting in the greater Pittsburgh region, focused primarily at UPMC Passavant. Expected services include cardiology consultation, critical care services, ECG analysis, interpretation of transthoracic echocardiograms, and performance and interpretation of transesophageal echocardiograms and cardiac nuclear studies. These duties will be performed in rotation with other cardiologists within the practice. After-hours and weekend cardiology coverage will be shared among the group. Interventional cardiologists will also be considered, with appropriate narrowing of the non-invasive duties.

Chair of Cardiology job duties include providing oversight and direction for the UPMC Passavant physician team regarding standard of care for patients as well as patient access initiatives. The ideal candidate will partner with the HVI service line leadership and UPMC Passavant hospital leadership to set strategy, determine clinical goals and objectives, and oversee educational efforts for the team. The Chair will provide mentoring, feedback, and annual evaluations for the physician team members.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Board Certified or Board Eligible
• Demonstrated excellent clinic outcomes
• Pennsylvania medical license
• Proven ability to lead, encourage, and motivate staff in a team environment
• Licensure, Certifications and Clearances: Pennsylvania medical license, American Board Certification
