Position Opportunity: Associate/Full Professor - Pediatric Emergency Medicine
The Department of Emergency Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine presents a unique opportunity for individuals to join our esteemed academic faculty team as an Associate or Full Professor. In this role, you will lead our Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, overseeing academic direction, faculty research, education, scholarship, and clinical care within the dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department at Brenner Children's Hospital. Further, you'll have the chance to actively participate in and spearhead new and ongoing initiatives across Wake Forest University School of Medicine and our health system, making a meaningful impact on patient care within our local community and the wider academic learning health system of Advocate Health.

Ideal Candidate Profile
We are seeking an ideal candidate who is Board Certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and possesses a minimum of 8-10 years of faculty experience, accompanied by scholarly publications and significant academic contributions in the realm of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. A proven track record in leadership, clinical operations, faculty mentorship, academic project development, and additional expertise in adult Emergency Medicine are also qualities we highly value in successful candidates.
Department Highlights
Our Emergency Department holds the prestigious designation of a Level 1 trauma center since 1982, boasting various specialty accreditations including accreditation as a chest pain center, stroke center, and one of only two burn centers in North Carolina. The co-located Brenner Children's Hospital Emergency Department stands as North Carolina's inaugural Level 1 pediatric trauma center. Our clinical affiliate physicians manage 13 EDs across the state, collectively offering services to over 500,000 patients annually. With a patient acuity ranking in the 95th percentile and an admission rate of 30%, our Emergency Medicine physicians provide essential care. The Emergency Medicine residency program, one of the oldest in the country, is fiercely competitive. Moreover, we offer fellowships in diverse areas such as Emergency Medicine Research, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medicine Administration/Leadership, EM Ultrasound, EMS, Wilderness Medicine, and Global Emergency Medicine. Our accomplished faculty contribute significantly to both clinical practice and academia, showcasing a well-funded research program with more than 20 active projects and high faculty retention.
