Join a prestigious academic institution in a mid-sized family friendly community in Illinois, as an Academic Surgical Oncologist. This Academic Institution, in collaboration with a leading healthcare system, is seeking a dynamic faculty member to contribute to the growth of surgical oncology programs.
As part of a vertically integrated Health System, you will practice at a flagship hospital in a multidisciplinary setting. Engage in weekly Upper GI Tumor Board meetings and outpatient clinics at the Cancer Institute, benefiting from robust support from Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Advanced GI Endoscopy, and Interventional Radiology. Collaboration opportunities for liver cancer management are available, and you will receive call coverage from the well-established General Surgery Service, which includes a respected general surgery residency program.
Position Details:
This 12-month, full-time appointment offers a balanced workload with 50% dedicated to clinical practice and 50% to academic and research activities.
You will have protected time for research, a generous startup research package, and a competitive compensation package.
Collaborative opportunities await, as you develop relationships with researchers at the health center and the university, attracting funding and creating hypothesis-driven research protocols.
Position Requirements:
An accomplished track record, preferably at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with a focus on the surgical management of upper GI malignancies and soft tissue sarcomas.
Experience and interest in minimally invasive surgery are highly valued.
MD or DO, board certified in surgery, and fellowship training in surgical oncology.
Strong interpersonal skills are essential for program building, and a history of leading research teams and securing federal funding is desired.
Exceptional candidates may be considered for endowed appointments and leadership positions within the Cancer Center.
