SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Human Resources Department seeks an experienced Board-Certified Physician to serve as the County’s Supervising Occupational Health Physician for the Center for Employee Health and Wellness (CEHW). This position will serve as an occupational health expert working in partnership with the CEHW HR Manager. This is a contract position that reports to the Director and/or Deputy Director of the Human Resources Department.

The CEHW, Supervising Occupational Health Physician collaboratively develops and coordinates with the team on occupational health services for County employees as well as the rapidly changing COVID-19 response through appropriate channels, with internal and external partners. Provides leadership in the expansion of employee occupational health, prevention, and wellness programs. Contributes to a culture of excellence, compassion, and innovation, in collaboration with facility staff and Human Resources (HR) leadership.

• Provide ongoing medical assessments, direction and consultation on return-to-work services and protocols delivered by The Center.

• Review best practices and peer reviewed literature about return-to-work guidelines and approve changes to clinical guideline documents. Legibly document clinical decisions, rationale, and plan of action for The Center.

• Provide medical consultation on employee health and wellness services provided by The Center.

• Act as a medical expert and advocate for employee occupational health to give voice to increase visibility for, and to support overall employee health and well-being.

• Strengthen and reinforce a culture of quality, safety, and value across the County and HR.

    Minimum Requirements:

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in Occupational Medicine.

Education: M.D. or D.O. Degree; Board Certification or Board eligibility in Occupational Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with occupational medicine experience.

Professional Designations, Licenses, & Certifications: An unrestricted and currently valid license to practice medicine in the State of California; Certified as a Medical Examiner for the Department of Transportation; Basic Life Support (BLS) and Registered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

An equivalent combination of experience, education, and training commensurate to the position may be considered.
