The University of South Carolina School of Medicine (USCSOM) is seeking a board - certified child abuse pediatrician to provide programmatic oversight of the SC Children s Advocacy Medical Response System (SCCAMRS). This statewide child abuse medical program was established in 2004 to address the shortage and training of medical providers specializing in the medical evaluation of child maltreatment and the disparity in quality and delivery of these services. It is a comprehensive resource system for clinical, educational, quality improvement, legislative advocacy and funding support. It was statutorily codified in 2014.
Currently, the Program supports a network of child abuse pediatricians, primary care physicians, advanced practice providers and sexual assault/forensic nurse examiners trained to deliver medical services across the state for maltreatment concerns. SCCAMRS also works collaboratively with the State children s hospitals, the SC Network of Children s Advocacy Centers and the USC Children s Law Center.
