Norton Children's Pediatric Protection Specialists, affiliated with UofL School of Medicine, is seeking multiple child abuse pediatricians to join our practice. Our rapidly expanding team of professionals includes nurse practitioners, clinical forensic nurses, a social worker, and administrative personnel. We evaluate children from across Kentucky and Southern Indiana who are suspected victims of child maltreatment. We have an ACGME-accredited fellowship and have trained fellows who have gone on to work from Maine to South Dakota.

Norton Children s Pediatric Protection Specialists sees children at Norton Children s Hospital, a free-standing tertiary/quaternary care facility, and we perform case reviews for children who are not seen in person. Our child abuse pediatricians work in tandem with a nurse or nurse practitioner on all cases, with responsibility for evaluation, case management, call, report writing and court testimony when needed. About the Position

  • Our team is unique in our use of clinical forensic nurses as physician-extenders. Nurses and nurse practitioners take first call and collaborate with the on-call physician for every patient.
  • As an academic child abuse pediatrician and full time faculty member of the University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics, there is robust support clinical research, academic pursuits, and teaching within the University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics

Requirements for the position

  • Medical degree/diploma
  • Board certified/board eligible for both general pediatrics and child abuse pediatrics
  • Kentucky medical license or license eligible
