University of Kentucky seeks an Assistant Professor of Radiology/Medical Physicist in Lexington, KY to provide the following: 

TEACHING:  Participate in trainee and/or student academic curricula including classroom, workshop and laboratory teaching; participate in hands-on physics workshop teaching Nuclear Medicine Physics to radiology residents by demonstrating dose calibrator, well counter, and PET scanner; Serve the University, College of Medicine, University of Kentucky Healthcare and Department on projects related to instruction, including serving on graduate school committee for interviewing graduate school applicants for therapy and diagnostics for Medical Physics Master and PhD program in both therapy and diagnosis

RESEARCH:  Submit research projects for Institutional Review Board (IRB) and/or Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) approval; author publications on original research (peer-reviewed, invited), books and/or book chapters; deliver invited local, regional, national and international lectures related to research; seek sponsored Division, Department and Multidisciplinary research projects as PI, co-PI or co-I;

CLINICAL SERVICE:  Perform clinical duties within scope of expertise to support high-quality patient and family-centered care; support faculty physicians and technical staff in provision of clinical, radiological, professional and technical care services including but not limited to appropriate triage/selection, imaging/procedure protocols, safe imaging practices, policies & procedures and operations; must also participate on editorial board, serve as journal peer-reviewer, meeting abstract reviewer and/or grant reviewer. 

This position requires a Ph.D. in Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering or closely related field, board eligible/board certified in Diagnostic Medical Physics and board eligible/board certified in Nuclear Medicine Physics.

Therefore, as of October 18, 2021, all new hires prior to their first day of employment must submit appropriate documentation showing, i) completion of the first vaccination against COVID-19, or ii) completion of the full vaccination series against COVID-19, or iii) approved exemption (medical contraindications or a sincerely held religious belief) through the formal exemption process from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement. For those employees who have completed the first vaccination against COVID-19 prior to their first day of employment, the second vaccination (if applicable) must be completed following the vaccination recommended schedule to be considered fully vaccinated.
