Geisinger, one of the premier tertiary medical systems on the east coast, serving the northeast and central Pennsylvania regions is seeking their next Division Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The Chief will be responsible for and provide oversight of obstetric and gynecologic inpatient and outpatient services in Geisinger’s, Northeast region (Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties), leading and serving at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Geisinger Community Medical Center (Wilkes-Barre PA and Scranton, PA, respectively) and associated the outpatient, ambulatory clinics.
The search for the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Geisinger comes at a truly exciting time of rapid clinical enterprise development at Geisinger’s Women and Children’s Institute and Geisinger’s enterprise as whole. The Institute has seen momentous changes under the leadership of Dr. Sandra Culbertson and the opportunities for growth and innovation have never been more promising.
The successful Division Chief will be a nationally recognized physician leader with a distinguished record of achievement in clinical care, administration, education, and scholarship. They will have a collaborative, team- based leadership style, and the ability to build relationships and lead through influence. The next Chief must also be an active clinician, and an astute clinical operator with a strong business acumen who can lead the creation of innovative and contemporary methods of care that reflect the fast-changing world of OBGYN care models. They must demonstrate a passion for mentorship and the development of Institute members and trainees, including interpersonal skills that will assure successful relationship building with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. They will be charged with fostering an environment of collaboration, integrity, trust, transparency, and psychological safety. They will create an environment of accountability for performance and assure consistency across values, clinical quality and patient safety, customer service, employee satisfaction and faculty partnering. As Chief of the Division of OBGYN, they will work closely with the senior leadership of the Institute and enterprise to create a highly collaborative environment that shares best practices and generates opportunities to enhance Geisinger’s system wide capabilities. This position is expected to dedicate 0.6 FTE time to clinical care and 0.4 FTE time to administration. The successful candidate will be given an academic appointment at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate for the Division Chief position will have a proven track record of success across a tripartite mission along with progressive administrative experience, preferably in an academic medical center setting.
- They will possess a MD/DO degree (or equivalent) from an accredited medical school and be Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Possession of, or eligibility for, medical licensure in the State of Pennsylvania is
