Job Title: Director, Interventional Cardiology Research
Department: Medicine (Division of Cardiovascular Diseases & Hypertension)
Facility: Medical Education Building/Clinical Academic Building
Reports to: Chief, Division of Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension
Position Summary:
This position will provide leadership and direction for clinical research in the Cath Lab and overseeing the compliance for human interventional clinical research. It will also work closely with other medical professionals to improve care, quality and outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease, through innovative, patient-centered research in the Cath Lab.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead interventional cardiology research and create and drive its vision
- Develop a team of highly skilled interventional researchers; supervise faculty and staff and conduct performance evaluations
- Lead and collaborate on clinical research trials and demonstrate academic scholarship in the Interventional Cardiology and transcatheter heart therapies
- Conduct research and develop new methods for treating cardiovascular disease and improve patient outcomes
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary clinical program to design optimum patient care
- Perform transcatheter structural interventions, conduct diagnostic and interventional cardiac catherization, in-patient rounding and out-patient clinic services in hospital and clinic settings
- Serve as core faculty for Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart Fellowship Programs, and contribute to the educational mission of the Division
- Establish clinical excellence and academic scholarship in the Structural Heart space
- Educate patients about risks and benefits of treatment options and helping them to make informed decisions about their care
- Any other duties as may be assigned.
Education/Qualification
- Candidate must possess a MD and have achieved or are eligible for appointment at the rank of Associate Professoror higher
- Have fellowship and experience in Interventional and Structural Interventions
- Applicants with evidence of a strong commitment to clinical research, outcomes research and/or teaching are preferred
- Possess expertise in research and leading clinical trials
- Must have established clinical excellence and academic scholarship
- Team work skills
Certificates/Licenses
- Board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases
- Training and certification in cardiac catheterization and intervention
- Eligible for licensure in New Jersey
