Full Time OB Gyn Physician for Large Public Health and Hospital System in Silicon Valley

Better Health for All

County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS), a large public teaching healthcare system, affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine, is seeking full-time BC/BE OB Gyn physician, to join our dynamic practice in our Department of OB Gyn.

We offer the unparalleled opportunity to gain the long-term personal and professional satisfaction of serving our patients and our diverse community, while teaching the next generation of health care providers, in one of the best places to live in the United States.

About the organization

County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS) is the second-largest County-owned health and hospital system in California and is committed to improving the health of the 1.9 million people of Santa Clara County. Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH), an agency of CSCHS, is comprised of three hospitals:  Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC - a 731-bed central hospital), O’Connor Hospital (OCH - 358 licensed beds), and Saint Louise Regional Hospital (SLRH – 93 licensed beds).  In addition CSCHS includes a large primary care network comprised of eleven health centers throughout the County, several urgent care clinics, a broad-range of specialty services in our Valley Specialty Center, comprehensive dental services, a large behavioral health department, public health, EMS, and Valley Health Plan.

SCVMC itself hosts four residency and one fellowship training programs and partners with Stanford University Medical Center for the training of residents and fellows in many Stanford-based specialties.  SCVMC also features a Level 1 Trauma Center, Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, ABA verified Burn Center, Primary Stroke Center, and a nationally recognized CARF-accredited Rehabilitation Center.  Owing to its geographic location and specialty offerings, SCVMC not only serves the County, but also the larger region.

Providers in our health system also have the opportunity to use our integrated electronic health record (Epic), which brings together system-wide patient information.   The Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) recognized SCVMC for achieving its highest level of success (Stage 7), based on our continuous innovation and optimization of our inpatient and outpatient EHR.

About the community

Santa Clara Valley Healthcare is located in San Jose, California in the heart of Silicon Valley, offering a diverse choice of cultural, recreational, and lifestyle opportunities.  Our physicians live in a range of communities, including urban (e.g., San Francisco), university (e.g., Palo Alto), high tech (e.g., many cities of Silicon Valley), mountain (e.g., Los Gatos), beach (e.g. Santa Cruz), and rural/agricultural (e.g., Morgan Hill and Gilroy).  Situated in one of the most desirable regions of the country – only 45 minutes from the Monterey Bay and three hours from the Sierra Nevada – our physicians enjoy a very high quality of life.

About the Department

There are three hospitals with active General OB Gyn services including Labor & Delivery, Gyn Surgery, and Ambulatory OB Gyn clinics with fully integrated electronic health record. Our exceptional OB Gyn residency program provides opportunities for teaching and scholarly activity. Our department expects a commitment to continuous professional development, education, and ethical practice.

The department provides general, specialty, and sub-specialty care to the residents of Santa Clara County and surrounding areas.   In addition to our own OBGYN residency program established in 1987, we collaborate with the Stanford University Family Practice Residency program, and the Stanford Complex Family Planning Fellowship to provide education and training to rotating students, family practice residents, and CFP fellows.  We enjoy strong support for our Family Planning division on both the state and administrative level.  Physicians who join our department/division are pleased to find a very collegial work environment on both the intra- and inter-departmental level, with passionate specialty and ancillary support.

About the Position

This position requires completion of a Complex Family Planning Fellowship and being Board Certified (or active candidate) in both General OB/Gyn and Complex Family Planning . Candidates who have passed the certifying CFPexam without graduating from a CFPFamily Planning fellowship are also welcome to apply. Excellent clinical skills and strong commitment to teaching are sought in this position.

This position requires General OBGYN duties in addition to expertise in Family Planning procedures and management.  Successful applicants will demonstrate commitment to the underserved and culturally diverse patient population of the county of Santa Clara and dedication to medical education at the student, resident, and fellow level.  Individuals may have opportunities to engage in leadership, research and quality improvement projects appropriate to professional training and career goals.  Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, fluency in Spanish or another non-English language.

About compensation and benefits

We offer competitive compensation, generous comprehensive benefit package (including 54 days of leave per year and 5 CME days), paid malpractice (with tail coverage), vibrant professional environment, opportunity for career growth, and the opportunity to serve a multicultural patient population.
