Diagnose and treat injuries and diseases of the respiratory or pulmonary system, such as respiratory failure, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma and chronic bronchitis, among many others. Evaluate patients for sleep apnea. Analyze all available data including medical history, physical examination, laboratory findings, imaging and spirometry. Perform bronchoscopy and other tests as needed. Manage critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). Perform airway management, ventilator management, cardiovascular stabilization, central line placement and intubation, among other procedures. Apply expertise in neoplastic, inflammatory and infectious disorders of the lung parenchyma, pleura and airways; pulmonary vascular disease and its effect on the cardiovascular system; and detection and prevention of occupational and environmental causes of lung disease. Prescribe inhaled medications, including bronchodilators and antibiotics. Provide respiratory support, including the delivery of oxygen. Provide ventilator support to assist patients with breathing, including non-invasive ventilation and invasive ventilation (tracheostomy tube). Be available when on call for emergent pulmonary or critical care consultations.

Minimum requirements: Medical degree or foreign equivalent, completion of residency training program in Internal Medicine, completion of Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care fellowship training programs, Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pulmonary and Critical Care, and Georgia medical license.
