Neuro-Intensivist

Diagnose, treat and support critically ill and injured patients, particularly trauma victims, stroke patients and patients with multiple organ dysfunction. Treat patients who have a wide range of medical or surgical illnesses that require critical care support, which generally include life-threatening major illnesses or operations where high-level life support is required. Admit and manage critically ill patients in the Neuro intensive care unit (ICU). Coordinate patient care among the primary physician, critical care staff and other specialists. Oversee the many decisions involved in a critically ill patients care. Follow evidence-based guidelines for intensive care including a multispecialty team approach to improve patient outcomes, including survival rates, reduce complications, shorten lengths of stay in the Neuro ICU and enhance medication safety. Perform procedures such as intubations, center line placements, arterial line placements, thoracentesis, lumbar punctures and bronchoscopies, among other procedures. Be available when on call for emergent critical care consultations.

Minimum Prerequisites: Medical degree or foreign equivalent, completion of residency training program in Neurology, completion of fellowship training program in Neuro Critical Care, Board Eligible or Board Certified in Neuro Critical Care, and Georgia medical license.
