Position Summary
The University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX seeks a Part-Time Clinical Faculty, Developing Osteopathic Clinical Skills (DOCS). The faculty member will operate within the UIWSOM framework of lifelong learning through collaborative scholarship, innovative educational excellence, and learner-centered curricula.

REQUIREMENTS
- D.O. degree from an accredited U.S. medical school.
- Strong knowledge base and experience in his/her discipline as it relates to the practice of medicine.
- Strong knowledge base of medical history taking and clinical skills.
- Knowledge of osteopathic philosophy.
- Knowledge of osteopathic manipulative techniques (OMT).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in complex interdisciplinary and interprofessional settings.

Essential Functions
Teaching:
- Per the SOM mission and accreditation standards, the faculty member will participate in the implementation of a transformative curriculum that involves the collaborative development and implementation of competency based, innovative and integrated teaching and learning strategies.
- Teaching activities include the following topics/skills: clinical reasoning, medical interviewing, communication, physical examination, osteopathic manipulative medicine, medical procedures.
- Teaching activities may also involve interaction with standardized patient actors and the use of simulation models.
- Faculty members will participate in student skills assessments.
- There may be other times in which teaching, mentoring or advising will occur, and arrangements will be made with the Chair.
Faculty Development/Mentoring Service:
- The faculty member will participate in UIWSOM White Coat and Graduation ceremonies.
- The faculty member will participate in UIWSOM and OPPI department faculty development activities.
- The faculty member will participate in university service activities (on a committee, as a student mentor, a student group advisor, etc).

Required Education
- D.O. degree from an accredited U.S. medical school.
Required Work Experience
- Strong knowledge base and experience in his/her discipline as it relates to the practice of medicine.
- Strong knowledge base of medical history taking and clinical skills.
- Knowledge of osteopathic philosophy.
- Knowledge of osteopathic manipulative techniques (OMT).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in complex interdisciplinary and interprofessional settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Experience in computer-assisted delivery of course content.
- Fluent in Spanish.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Current board certification or board eligibility in specialty, with a valid unrestricted Texas medical license, or ability to obtain Texas licensure in a reasonable time frame.
Work Hours
Based on course assignment. 16 hours (0.4 FTE) per week.All regularly scheduled activities occur at Brooks City Base Campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
