The Division of Gastroenterology at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center (LHMC) is currently seeking an experienced, BC Gastroenterologist with an interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease to join our IBD Center. Our IBD team provides comprehensive care and consultation on this thriving service with the support of a new IBD Center. The Gastroenterology division is comprised of over 30 gastroenterologists, hepatologists, and advanced practice providers all committed to providing compassionate, high quality, patient focused care. Providers see approximately 35,000 outpatients per year for a wide variety of GI and liver related problems including inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, biliary tract disorders and diseases of the pancreas, colon cancer, and disorders of the esophagus. Physicians also perform approximately 25,000 procedures annually. Many of the Department’s physicians are frequently recognized in local and national publications as among the best in their field. The Division offers a collegial and supportive environment in which providers feel their efforts are recognized and valued. All of these factors contribute to an extremely low turnover rate within the Division.
The GI Division also has an ACGME accredited GI Fellowship Program with staff physicians holding academic appointments at Tufts Medical School. Staff gastroenterologists have the opportunity to interact with fellows, residents and medical students, and to teach at Tufts Medical School if so inclined.
Lahey Hospital and Medical Center (LHMC) is a 317-bed, state of the art, Tufts- affiliated Academic Medical Center consistently recognized as one of the best hospitals in the country by local and national publications including Boston Magazine and US News and World Reports. LHMC is a member of the newly formed Beth Israel Lahey Health, an integrated healthcare system that includes 4 academic medical centers and 8 member hospitals. Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC) is conveniently located in Burlington, MA, a scenic suburban community approximately 15 miles northwest of Boston and a short drive to the lakes, mountains, and shores of New England. The area offers excellent schools and academic institutions, as well as abundant cultural and recreational amenities making it a truly desirable location in which to practice and live.
Interested candidates should be Fellowship Trained in GI. In addition to strong academic credentials, candidates should possess superb clinical skills and a demonstrated ability to engage and interact effectively with patients and their families, medical and nursing staff, as well as other clinical and administrative colleagues within the organization. A solid work ethic and well developed organizational skills are also required to effectively manage care in our fast-paced environment where quality care and safety are our highest priorities
In March 2019, Lahey Health merged with four other local hospital organizations (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, New England Baptist, Mount Auburn and Anna Jaques) to form Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) making it the largest employer in Massachusetts. This health system consists of over 200 care locations including 13 hospitals with over 240 beds and 5 ambulatory surgery centers. Approximately 4,300 physicians are associated with BILH including 840 primary physicians managing 1.3 million patients. Located just north of Boston, the area provides excellent school systems, abundant cultural activities in a world class city and driving distance to the mountains and seacoast throughout New England.
Diversity is a core value at Beth Israel Lahey Health. We are passionate about building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working and learning environment for our staff. We believe every member on our team enriches our diversity by exposing us to a broad range of ways to understand and engage with the world, identify challenges, and to discover, design and deliver solutions.
