Texas Tech Health University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC-EP) seeks Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physicians with additional fellowship training in traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury.

Successful candidates will be employed by TTUHSC-EP at an academic rank commensurate with qualifications.  The candidates should enjoy teaching residents and medical students as well as pursuing research and other scholarly activities within the Surgery Department.

Patient care will be provided at University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC-EP), El Paso Children’s Hospital and a local inpatient rehabilitation hospital. UMC-EP, as the only ACS-verified Level 1 trauma center for a 270-mile radius serves a population of 1.25M in far west Texas and Southern New Mexico.

The rehabilitation hospital, located less than four miles from the health sciences center, specializes in services for the following conditions: brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopedic conditions, stroke and other neurologic disorders, post-amputation care, wounds, and cardiopulmonary disease. Services include evaluation, diagnosis, consultation and management of patients with physical and/or cognitive impairment and disability. A full medical staff of specialists are available for consultation, along with 24-hour rehabilitation nursing, respiratory, and wound care.

El Paso is the 6^th most populous city in Texas and the 22^nd in the United States. El Paso was ranked as the city with the lowest cost of living by Forbes magazine and the second safest city in the U.S.  Exceptional public and private schools are available. The city has minor league baseball and soccer, symphony, museums, excellent dining options and shopping. The El Paso International Airport is easy to access, making travel simple and efficient. One can enjoy living in the mountains and skiing is just two hours away.

TTUHSCEP is one of five independent universities in the Texas Tech University System.  The Health Sciences Center consists of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and an emerging Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine.

The position requires a M.D./D.O. degree with completion of an ACGME approved residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Board certification or board eligible by the American Board Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is required.  Further fellowship training is an asset.
