The Department of Pediatrics at UPMC Children’s Harrisburg is seeking an Associate Regional Medical Director of Pediatric Hospital Medicine for Central Pennsylvania.  In addition to providing clinical services as part of the pediatric hospital medicine team at UPMC Children’s Harrisburg, the Associate Regional Medical Director will be integral in expanding clinical services to provide high-quality, compassionate care in central Pennsylvania. This position is part of an initiative by UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh to align community pediatric care across the UPMC system and to ensure that children are receiving the highest quality care in close proximity to their homes. 

The Associate Regional Medical Director of Pediatric Hospital Medicine will report to the Medical Director of Pediatric Services for UPMC in Central PA and partner with the Associate Regional Medical Director of Pediatric Intensive Care and the Associate Regional Medical Director of Neonatology for the care of all pediatric patients served by UPMC Children’s Harrisburg. 

All candidates must be board-certified/board-eligible in Pediatrics. Candidates for this position should have clinical experience in providing care to hospitalized pediatric patients and newborns in a community setting.  Leadership and/or administrative experiences, as well as board certification or board eligibility in Pediatric Hospital Medicine is preferred but not required.

Position Details:

• Full-time position, including protected time for administrative responsibilities
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the pediatric hospital medicine division, including schedules, providing feedback to department members, and active involvement in recruitment for the growing department
• Supports the Medical Director of Pediatric Services for UPMC in Central PA with growing and building the UPMC Central PA Division of pediatric hospital medicine.
• Align with the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Regional Medical Director of Hospital Medicine and other leadership teams at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
• Support pediatric services throughout the UPMC Pinnacle 7-hospital system.
• Provides, in collaboration with the hospitalist team, 24-hour in house coverage to support 19 pediatric beds.

Facility:

UPMC Children’s Harrisburg has a total of 72 beds (19 general pediatric, 11 PICU, and 42 Level III NICU) The provider care teams includes Pediatric hospitalists, intensivists and neonatologists.

• Newly renovated Children’s floor with an 11-bed Universal Bed Unit
• Pediatric subspecialty support including pediatric surgery, pediatric cardiology, pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric endocrinology, pediatric anesthesia, pediatric orthopedic surgery, pediatric behavioral health, and virtual support from UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for other pediatric subspecialties.

Job Requirements: 

• Licensure by Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatrics 
• Leadership experience preferred
