The Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Illinois Chicago's School of Public Health (UIC SPH) is recruiting 2 tenure-track faculty positions in epidemiology (Assistant/Associate Professor levels). We invite applications from outstanding scholars from diverse backgrounds and are particularly interested in applicants with research expertise in cancer, environmental, occupational, or infectious disease epidemiology, but we encourage applications from other areas as well.
UIC is located in the vibrant medical district in the near west side of Chicago and is one of the most diverse public research universities in the United States. The UIC SPH attracts over $33 million from the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, other governmental agencies, and philanthropic sources, resulting in hundreds of peer-reviewed publications annually. Our program offers MPH, MS, and PhD degrees in Epidemiology and additional concentrations in Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology and Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology, both of which are supported by training grants. Faculty affiliated with the program have backgrounds in infectious disease, cancer, health disparities, environmental and occupational health, women's health, reproductive and perinatal health, pediatric health, nutrition, gender-based violence, global health, and implementation science. In addition to maintaining individual research agendas, our epidemiology faculty frequently collaborate with state and local health departments and community-based organizations. You can learn more about our program here: https://publichealth.uic.edu/academics/divisions/epidemiology-biostatistics/.
The successful applicant will have a doctoral degree in epidemiology or a related quantitative field. A background in population health or community health and a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring are preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a strong research or practice-based scholarship record, the potential for securing external funding, and evidence of effective teaching and mentoring. Our program embraces diversity and inclusion across multiple dimensions consistent with the UIC SPH mission and values. We strongly encourage applications from candidates who will help us expand the perspectives and experiences we bring to our work.
