Psychiatrist - Mental Health Clinical Center (MHCC) - Fort Meade, MD

The Psychiatrist is in the outpatient Mental Health Clinic within the Mental Health Clinical Center (MHCC) and practices at the independent clinical level of practice. The Psychiatrist has specialized knowledge of practice related to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of mental health conditions.

The Psychiatrist provides individual treatment using evidenced based interventions for the treatment of Veterans with diagnosis to include Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Substance Use Disorder, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, severe and persistent mental illness, personality disorders and other disabling affective and anxiety disorders.

The Psychiatrist works as a member of an interdisciplinary MHCC team. There may be some times that the clinician would have to visit a main facility or a different CBOC for the purpose of meetings or trainings.

There may be other duties as assigned or required.

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday
EDRP Authorized: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Preferred Experience (Please clearly address these in your cover letter and/or CV, if applicable):

-At least 3 years of experience as an attending psychiatrist
-Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
-Experience in a high-volume outpatient practice
-Experience providing OBOT (with current x-waiver)
-Experience using Clozapine in an outpatient setting
-Experience using long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications
-Training and experience using evidence- based psychotherapies
