Service Chief of Obstetrics

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas, seeks to fill a position for the Service Chief of Obstetrics at Parkland Hospital in its Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division. Academic rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.

The position will be responsible for the safety and quality of care for 12,000 births annually, the oversight of Labor & Delivery and Triage in coordination with medical director(s), the oversight of ambulatory clinic services, MFM and 10 WHC, in concert with medical director(s), medical supervision of advanced practice providers: 35-40 APP in L&D, 80-100 APP in WHC, with annual protocol update and policies and procedures, quality review and case review functions for maternal levels of care leading performance improvement committees and meetings for service line.  This position also works with OB anesthesia services, NICU and pediatric services, helps to facilitate Maternal Levels of Care level 4 designation, coordinates regarding nursing policy, procedure, and staffing review and administrative oversight of program projects contracted by hospital.

The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching and providing outstanding evidence-based clinical care. Principal clinical assignment will be to provide clinical coverage and maternal fetal medicine services as well as to provide teaching and mentoring to our students, residents and fellows in labor and delivery, high-risk antepartum inpatient services, clinic, and sonography. The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UT Southwestern) is the home of the largest residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and one of the busiest clinical programs in the United States. We have over 100 faculty members, 175 classified staff, 72 residents, and 18 fellows. The Department has a robust research program and excellent graduate and undergraduate medical education programs. The Department has faculty at both Parkland Health and Hospital System, which serves a diverse, underrepresented patient population and Clements University Hospital which serves a large MFM referral population. Candidates must have a medical degree; completed an accredited residency in obstetrics and gynecology and by the time of hire have completed an approved fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine; and have attained or be eligible for Texas medical licensure and certification by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
