We re seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Nephrologist for an exciting opportunity to serve as Section Head of Pediatric Nephrology at Ochsner Hospital for Children in New Orleans, Louisiana. The successful candidate will develop and lead a comprehensive pediatric kidney care program within Ochsner s Health s regional health system, the largest not-for-profit academic health system in the Gulf South.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Leadership and Program Development
  • Collaborate with Departmental leaders to develop and lead an integrated regional pediatric nephrology program.
  • Opportunity for qualified candidates to develop a pediatric kidney transplant program to complement existing pediatric liver, heart, and bone marrow transplant programs.

Clinical Care
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient kidney care for children with acute, chronic and end-stage renal disease.
  • Partner with medical and surgical colleagues to serve children with complex conditions in multidisciplinary programs.

Teaching and Research
  • Teach medical students, residents, and allied health students.
  • Clinical and translational research opportunities abound for qualified candidates.
  • Academic appointment commensurate with experience.

The Department of Pediatrics and our pediatric subspecialists (collectively, Ochsner for Children ) represent over 110 physicians. The group is the region s leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. We offer a full range of pediatric services including bone marrow transplantation, solid organ transplantation, and pediatric cardiovascular surgery. We utilize a 54-bed Level III-C Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 35-bed pediatric unit, as well as a dedicated, full-time, region-wide in-house pediatric transport team.

Ochsner Hospital for Children is a rapidly expanding 125-bed children s hospital offering a full range of pediatric care from primary to quaternary care, with services offered in all subspecialties, and includes Congenital Cardiac Surgery, Advanced GI and Hepatology, Advanced Orthopedic Surgery, Hematology-Oncology, Cleft Palate/Cranio-Facial Surgery, as well as heart, liver, and bone marrow transplant. There are also several multi-disciplinary teams dedicated to complex conditions. The hospital not only performed the first pediatric heart/kidney transplant in the region but is also the top congenital heart program in the state (both in volume and outcomes).
Ochsner also maintains 12 rotating satellite pediatric subspecialty clinics (eight in Louisiana, four in Mississippi); three permanent pediatric subspecialty clinics; and the Boh Center for Child Development, a dedicated multidisciplinary developmental pediatrics center.
